Child of Wonder

The Wonder Of A Child
In a child's eyes you see beauty all around

When they sing a song and even when they hum
When they pick a flower and look at it in wonder
It's a beauty to behold and a sight to bestow

When you look into their eyes at the pleasure

They get in the simple things around us

Life seems so wonderful and carefree
Children are a gift given from God

A wonder and a pleasure a gift to be treasured

They make our dreams come true

And a house finally a home

A weekend of thanks!

First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAIAH!
Today is officially the day you came into this world and your dad and I are so very happy you are ours! We can already see your silly personality, your sweet spirit and your happy heart. You are a joy to us! We can't wait to watch you grow and learn this next year!! You gave our thanksgiving so much more meaning this year.
Love, Mom
Isaiah has been in to standing on his head lately :)

We had a great couple days over thanksgiving of just being home, hanging out with family( I'll try to post some pictures and video from time with family), decorating the house for Christmas, baking (so far 6 loaves of banana bread due to the excess of bananas we had last weekend for Isaiah's monkey party!), cooking, and sleeping in (thank you Isaiah for letting us sleep in past 9am for the last 3 days!!). Friday night we went with our friends Lee and Kristina to see the ICE exhibit at Opryland - talk about cold!! I guess it has to be to keep all that Ice frozen!! We are thankful for their friendship

And just in case we haven't told YOU lately, we are so thankful for ALL of the friends and family in our life. Thanks for loving us! We are incredibly blessed.

The chocolate cake was a hit!!

Monkey cupcakes!

Any ideas of what to do with all these left over bananas??

A Lion and a LICK!

Just some fun pics from Halloween last week!
Isaiah was a lion and as you can see below:
Cousin Sophia was the little mermaid
Cousin Daniel Nouwen was a dinosaur
Cousin Annie Grace was a pink poodle
Aunt Michelle was feeling a bit catty!

Dumb and Cute-er

Isaiah got his FIRST haircut this week! I should have probably specified to leave his hair in the front a little longer......when I got home the first thing Daniel said was "he looks like Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber."
It'll grow back right??

Seattle

I wanted to put a couple pictures up from our trip out to Seattle over the weekend. We flew out there to attend a wedding for Daniel's friend Ken. We also visited some friends, Dave and Jaimie that we knew from living in Colorado. It was great to reconnect with folks we haven't seen for a while, but it was good to come home to our own familiar beds :)Still smiling - after the 5 hour plane ride!

Bath time!

Remember ALF?

Flipping through the channels late the other night I came across an old episode of ALF - remember him? If you don't or even if you do here's the premise of the show:
"Gordon Shumway, last known survivor from the planet Melmac, crash-lands his spaceship into the Tanner family's suburban garage. Willie dubs him "ALF", short for Alien Life Form. After convincing a military officer that they are not harboring a space creature, the Tanners decide to take ALF in as a member of the family"
I totally remember watching this show as a kid and now actually get some of the humor. Anyway, the funny thing is that the little boy on the show reminded me of Isaiah - or what Isaiah might look like in a few years. What do you think? Any similarity??

$12 well spent

Last night Daniel and I had the pleasure of seeing the Need to Breathe show at exit/in. We had a fantastic time and were truly impressed by these performers. We may have actually enjoyed the opening act, Andy Davis better than NTB. Either way - be sure to check them both out if you have a chance!
Need to Breathe - the lead singer was definately channeling Kid Rock last night - atleast in appearance. Andy Davis - great performer - I think most of the ladies (and maybe half the guys) thought he was pretty dreamy!
My own little rock star - adjusting those knobs to make sure the sound is just right!

So, I fell off my bike......

Our friends Lee and Kristina were so nice to give us their old mountain bikes a couple of weeks ago because they bought new ones. We've had a great time getting out and riding around on them. I think it has easily been 7 years or more since I've actually ridden a bike. It's a lot of fun - unless you fall off. Riding a bike in the dark isn't a good idea. I found this out friday night when I was riding through a parking lot and hit a speed bump. I seriously ate the pavement and my bike chain came off so I had to walk the rest of the way home, about 2 miles. This picture does not do my injuries justice - I have a gash in my hand, skinned my knee, ripped up my elbow, not to mention the aches and pains the next morning. Anyway.....it could have been much worse - I'm thankful I didn't knock out my teeth or break my arm. From now on I ride during the day. On a happier note - Isaiah and I had lunch with his half brother Malachi this week. Malachi was adopted by a great couple here in town and we all agree the boys should grow up knowing each other as family. Sweet Malachi was holding Isaiah's hand on the park bench.

It's Official!!

Yesterday we went to court and our adoption was finialized! We are incredibly blessed to have Isaiah in our lives- the whole process of how this adoption happened still blows our minds at times! All that being said - Isaiah is officially a "Moore"!
We are greatful for the love and support our friends and family have given us, including Steven and Mary Beth Chapman, who have founded an oganization to assist families wanting to adopt (http://www.shaohannahshope.org/). In honor of all they do for orphans around the world and (in their own community), we included Steven's song "When love takes you in" on the slideshow below. We would strongly encourage any of you that would feel inclined, to donate to this ministry - it's such a worth while cause.

Mama said there'd be days like this....

Some days life can be a lot of work.
I woke up to see that Savannah had gnawed a bare spot in her fur and was bleeding. So off to the vet we go to rack up a $128 bill. They had to shave part of her back to help the spot heal. They also gave her a steroid shot (my sister in law tells me that this will make Savannah have to go to the bathroom about every hour - great!)
Pathetic!! Poor thing!
After Isaiah's nap this afternoon, we ran to the library and to the dollar store. We didn't get to far into the store before Isaiah starts gaging and throws up EVERYWHERE! (If you happen to be in the Dollar Tree in Bellevue, look out for isle #4 - what a mess!) All I could do was just walk out with puke all over us both.

Yucky!! Straight to the wash!

These two were doing a little better this aftenoon :)

On a side note - Daniel was trying to give me a little break when he got home from work today and put Isaiah in the hiking backpack while he mowed the lawn - Isaiah seemed to be enjoying himself!

I guess the day didn't end so badly after all.

Back in the day

Since time travel just isn't possible - this website has to be the next best thing. It's called yearbookyourself.com and you upload your pic into old yearbook photos. Daniel and I were laughing so hard doing this.
Which one is your favorite?? Leave us a comment!!
My favorite is the one where Daniel has had way too many big macs.
I think my hair looks nice short and blonde :)
Enjoy!
