8 Months - Can that be right?

When the temperature is knocking on the door of 100 degrees you've got to get into a pool or just stay inside. Being that it was Isaiah's 8 month "birthday" we filled up the kiddie pool and took a little dip. We actually had to keep adding water from the hose to keep the water a reasonable temperature! So hot!
Below you will see pics of our darling 8 month old. :) Time is flying!

Does he look like a toddler in this picture or what?
We were able to sneak up to Gaitlinburg last weekend and escape the heat for a couple of days. We took this picture out on the deck one morning.
Cousin Daniel Nouwen came over for a little bit the other day and of course we had to take some pics. These little boys are going to grow up being best buddies (we hope!) They already look like trouble! Cute trouble... :)

A couple more pics from the weekend

I wanted to add a couple of other photos from the weekend.
We had this little photo op outside the Old Town resturaunt in Hillsboro.

Isaiah was having a blast watching me blow bubbles with my gum in the car on the way to the airport. It was a 3 hour drive, so I was glad to do whatever it took to keep him occupied!
Isaiah with Grandpa Kauffman at Cabella's
We stopped at Cabella's on the way out of town in Kansas city and looked at the fish exhibit. Check out the size of that catfish!

Isaiah with Grandma Kauffman and Dad. Daniel was finding little food pellets on the floor and throwing them in the water exhibit where the fish were and creating a FRENZY - Isaiah was very curious about it!!

A Goodbye

Daniel, Isaiah and I traveled to Kansas over the weekend to attend my Grandmother's funeral. She was 94 and ready to go home to heaven.
Here is a picture of me with my Grandparents when I was about Isaiah's age.
I'm glad that I was able to bring Isaiah to see Grandma back in May.
My little cousins recited 1 Corinthians 13 (the whole chapter) by MEMORY at the funeral. Somehow the words struck me in a new and different way coming out of the mouths of children. I decided that I would like to memorize the passage as well as a tribute to my grandmother who could quote so many scriptures word for word from memory.
1 Corinthians 13
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.

Happy 1st Birthday Annie Grace!

Yesterday we had a birthday party for our neice Annie Grace who turned one! It was a great day to be outside (minus the bug bites!)
Happy birthday little girl -you've come so far this year! Can't wait to watch you grow up!
Maybe the funniest part of the day was trying to get all the kids together for a picture. We've been wanting to do this for some time, but there's alway one kid who is hungry, sleeping or fussy so we can't get them all in the same place at the same time. Finally, we managed to get them dressed and in place - then, picture this - 8 adults with cameras, making every noise imaginable to have them all look the same direction at the same time. 40 shots later, we got one where they all look cute and aren't blinking! Success!!

A mile high and 7 months old

Isaiah and I went on a quick weekend trip to Colorado for my 10 year high school reunion. The acutal reunion was ok, but it was just fun to be with family and watch them enjoy Isaiah! And monday marked the 7th month of Isaiah's little life.

Busy little hands are in to everything (with Grandma)

Mmmmwahh! Thanks for the kiss!
We decided to run up to Red Rock Amplitheatre (about 5 miles from my parents house) to look around and get a little taste of the mountains. Made me miss it!!

Enjoying a summer afternoon with Grandpa in the grass
