Life in a small town

This week I've been hanging out with my friend Amie in Hutchinson Kansas. Daniel went to Florida to Chaperon the Senior trip and Isaiah and I decided to get out of town too.

Hutchinson is a cute little town about smack dab in the middle of the state. This town boasts the largest grain elevator in the country, underground salt mines and their space museum has more space artifacts than the Smithsonian. Their state fair always has a life size cow made out of butter and on the last day of the fair they have a pancake feed and the town eats the butter cow. They also seem to always have severe weather when I come! (We had a good tornado watch last night!) Nice place to visit huh? My low key visit has primarily been spent on the front porch of my friend Amie's house that was built in 1876. Amie has three adopted kids, Barrett, Woodly and Marie France. After we put the kids to bed, we have been indulging on Amish Cheese, crackers and a nice glass of wine. Fun times!

Say cheese - please!!!

I love to take pictures of Isaiah, but just when I want to capture a sweet smile or a laugh I go to pull out the camera and his face goes blank. He seems to know what's happening and he won't perform! I can stand on my head and dance around and tickle him and nothing - no smile.
Here's a progression of my attempt to catch a smile the other day:

Colorado - Part 1

We travelled to Colorado last week and the day after we got there it SNOWED (May 1st). This is a picture from my parents back door. We were able to reconnect with some old friends from church at a meet and greet for Isaiah

Do you think Grandpa was having fun playing with Isaiah?

After having a short visit with the family we were off to Durango Colorado for a wedding. It was a beautiful drive (most of the time) and the mountains were amazing along the way. Pictures can't do it justice!!

More pics from the wedding to come :)

Half Marathon Photos

Just so you all know we really did finish the half marathon last week- here's proof!!

I'm pretty sure the first picture I posted (at the top) is somewhere around mile 10 when we weren't feeling so great!

Our legs have recovered and we are feeling like it's time to get out and run a little bit again - before it gets too hot!
